The South African Judo market is underserved. Most Judoka’s purchase imported Gi’s that are costly or opt for a cheaper Karate Gi that rips easily during Judo and lowers the wearer’s confidence. Using incorrect Gi means that many South Africans cannot practice techniques with freedom and thus do not fully experience Judo. The Gi’s price becomes a barrier to entry, thus slowing down Judo’s growth and development in South Africa.
Barriers to entry into the international competition spaces are high. Management and administration of Judoka can also be very difficult due to compliance and talent tracking differing from club to club. Using smart technologies challenges around management and administration are simplified, as well as promoting a greater access to collective knowledge and information.
